We specialize in self-litigating braces, clear braces, lingual hidden braces, Wild Smiles brackets, and Invisalign. We work hard so you can achieve the beautiful smile that you deserve!

Once your braces are removed, we will begin the retention phase of your treatment. We have all the information you need to know about retainers. Please read below!

Information About Retainers

Congratulations on completing this important milestone in your treatment! Make sure to follow through with all the hard work you’ve put in so far by wearing your retainers. You want to wear them in order to stabilize your mouth and make sure your teeth have moved into their desired position. The teeth must be retained or else they will shift back to their original place. They need this retention period to adapt to their new dental alignment. It’s up to you to maintain that perfect smile!

Whether you receive a wired retainer or clear aligners from us, you should wear them on a daily basis. After we reevaluate your teeth after several months for settling and stability and see that your teeth have remained in place, you may start to wear your retainers only at night. No matter what, your retainers should be worn indefinitely as long as there are no problems with oral hygiene.

How To Maintain You Beautiful Smile

  • Wear your retainers as prescribed
  • Do not let your retainers get damaged or bent (keep it in the case when not in the mouth)
  • Do not leave your retainer within reach of pets
  • Call us for a repair appointment if your retainers are ever damaged or loose
  • Clean retainers thoroughly once a day with a toothbrush and a clear mouth rinse Use warm but not hot water. Brushing retainers removes the plaque and eliminates odors. Efferdent® or other orthodontic appliance cleaners can be used but do not take the place of brushing
